No. 03 · Freshness

How we keep it fresh

  • Roast date on every bag.

Printed by hand, not a best-before guess.

  • Roasted every week.

Small batches, sized to the week's orders.

  • Ships within 48 hours.

From the roaster to the courier, usually the next day.

  • Traceable to the farm.

Every single origin names its estate, altitude and process.

No. 05 · From the farm

Grown on hills you can name

Most of our coffee comes from four growing regions in South India, where arabica grows under shade trees between 950 and 1,500 metres. We buy from estates we've visited, pay for the lots we cup best, and print the farm, altitude and process on every single-origin bag. A few coffees come from Ethiopia, Colombia and Brazil, chosen for flavours our hills don't produce.

Altitude range: 950–1,500 m

“I only own a French press and was scared of ‘specialty’. Picked my brewer, got Shade Line ground coarse, and it's the first coffee I don't add sugar to.”

“The roast date was five days before it arrived. Paper Lantern tastes like blueberries through my V60. My flatmate didn't believe me until she tried it.”

“Night Shift is my moka pot coffee now. Strong, chocolatey, no burnt edge. I'd love a 2 kg bag.”
